The Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence supported the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society (NDMS) to conduct collaborative caregiver needs mapping, the first of its kind in Nunavut. As part of this initiative, NDMS travelled to all 25 fly-in communities in the Territory between 2021 and 2024 to conduct interviews (group and individual) with community members to understand their experiences on disability and care.

NDMS has produced The Meaning of Care and Care Work in Nunavut, an analysis of the interviews conducted, which highlights key themes around the value of care to caregivers and recipients of care. The analysis also includes solutions to help address some of the come critical challenges faced by Nunavummi caregivers and care recipients.
