In addition to working as an end-of-life care navigator and educator at a Saskatoon hospice, Mary-Anne Parker is also her aging mother’s primary caregiver. 

She doesn’t just care for her mother, but also for her adult children and grandchildren, making her part of a growing group known as the sandwich generation. 

In Canada, one in four people is a caregiver, and this number is growing, according to the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence (CCCE). 

New numbers from a national survey by CCCE, funded by the Azrieli Foundation, suggest that this care load, combined with a lack of support, is negatively impacting caregivers and their financial stability.
