Caring in Canada 2026 – Edmonton, Alberta

May 26, 2026
10:00 am – 11:30 pm MT
Bison Lodge, 9430 Scona Rd NW, Edmonton, AB

In recognition of National Caregiver Month, the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence is proud to launch Caring in Canada 2026, our second biannual report on the state of care in Canada.

Grounded in the policy pillars of CCCE’s National Caregiving Strategy, this new report draws on findings from our pan-Canadian National Caregiving Survey to shed light on the realities facing caregivers and care providers today. The data makes clear that caregiving is not a private issue. It is a public policy, workforce, and economic issue, and one that requires federal leadership.

To mark the release of the report, we will host an in-person event in partnership with Caregivers Alberta featuring a lively discussion on the findings and what they mean for caregivers, care providers, and care systems across Western Canada.

Report highlights:

  • Updated data on who cares in Canada.
  • New analysis on how the caregiving crisis impacts the broader Canadian economy and productivity.
  • Findings that underscore why pillars of CCCE’s National Caregiving Strategy are critical to addressing the biggest issues in caregiving.

Speakers:

  • Liv Mendelsohn, executive director, CCCE
  • James Janeiro, director of policy and government relations, CCCE
  • Darrel Gregory, executive director, Caregivers Alberta
  • Dr. Sharon Anderson, University of Alberta

This session will be moderated by Liv Mendelsohn.
